Vinkovci was a big and noteworthy settlement in the Roman era Vinkovci was a big and noteworthy settlement in the Roman era. It was called Colonia Aurelia Cibalae. It is the only city in Croatia where two Roman emperors, Valens and Valentinian, were born. The end of May becomes the period of Roman days, time when you can visit the City Museum, attend workshops, at which you can learn how to make ceramics, write on Roman tablets, try dishes made using old recipes, take part in games and quizes.

Students of Osnovna škola Bartola Kašića were selling handmade ceramic bowls, medallions and tiles with Latin pronouns.

Visitors could see Roman legionnnaires,

a camp showing life during the period,

gladiators’ fights and lots of other interesting things.
