Nonrenewable energy is energy that comes from the ground and is not replaced in a relatively short amount of time. Fossil fuels are the main category.

Why does the Hawai‘i Energy Policy Forum care about CarSharing?

Transportation consumes 61% of the oil we import each year!

Focus on Ground Transportation Hawai‘i simply cannot meet is 70% clean energy goal by 2030 without reducing the amount of oil consumed by Hawai‘i’s ground transportation sector. Carsharing is a strategy proven to help reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT). Reducing VMT reduces petroleum consumption. Reducing VMT in the transportation sector is like energy efficiency in the energy sector.
