Primary objectives Understand he best ways to study for history. Study guidance before tests Date: Primary objectives Understand he best ways to study for history. Reinforce knowledge concerning chapter Warm up question – how do you study? The last two years – what methods of study have you used, found effective or good? What works for you?

Flash-cards – exercise copy Does not actually have to involve cards. Write all the headings, key words and things that could be asked on a page, without the answers. You can then look over those words and questions to try and answer in your head. Or Give the answers to someone else and have them ask you. I used to ask my family and pace around the room answering.

How Society Began to Change: Agricultural Revolution: Industrial Revolution: Transport Revolution: Urbanisation: Population explosion: Edward Jenner A Revolution in Agriculture: Commons: Crop Rotation: Three weaknesses of old farming: Turnip Townshed: Robert Bakewell and selective breeding: Jethro Tull: Cyrus McCormack People in History: Squire: Enclosure: Types of Farmers: Attitudes: How enclosures worked: Lease: How enclosures affected everyone. A Revolution in Industry: Craftspeople: Domestic System: John Kay: James Hargreaves: Richard Arkwright: Edward Cartwright: Mass Production: James Watt: Abraham Darby A Revolution in Transport 1: Canals: Viaduct Problems with roads: James Metcalf: John McAdam: Thomas Telford: Turnpikes and tolls: Stage Coaches: Mail Coaches A Revolution in Transport 2: Locomotive: George Stephenson: The Rocket: First Irish railway: Samuel Morse and the Telegraph: The Penny Post (Stamps)

Agricultural revolution Mind maps – organise those words in a way that works for you then Birds ate seeds Old NEW New Crop rotations Disease Fallow land Turnip Townshed Selective breeding Weaknesses of old farming Robert Bakewell Agricultural revolution Crop rotations Jethro Tull Commons (shared land) Cyrus McCormack Sewing Seeds Cutting corn Do this for the seven chapters, use the heading in those chapters to divide up the boxes.

Important note for test There are a lot of names in this section. Highlight, put in a different section or do something to separate the names of the inventors and their inventions. Half this test will be names.

Visual representations are the best On your mind map, or on the back, or on a separate page if you desire, draw images or words linked with what you have to study. Textbooks do this for a reason. Looking back at the individual images in each chapter helps. Try putting drawings of sheep beside Robert Bakewell and selective breeding, draw new tools, horse drawn carriages, or whatever doodle links the idea to your head on your mindmap.

Cooldown Study for the test in the next History class. Pay particular attention to pages 10-12.
