In this game we will be simulating society during the Renaissance The Renaissance Game In this game we will be simulating society during the Renaissance We will have 6 different teams and 3 patrons (people who will buy the goods on the last day)

Art If you have been placed on the ‘Art’ team, you will be assigned to make a Renaissance-style piece of art This could be a: Painting (use markers to simulate paint) Sculpture Drawing (Don’t include nudity for any of these) While it should look like it’s from the Renaissance, you need to come up with you OWN idea- not replicate someone else's. Research online for Renaissance art to get inspiration.

Literature If you were placed in the ‘literature’ team, you are assigned to create a poem similar to those created during the Renaissance You will read following poems and begin to brainstorm APPROPRIATE topics that you can write about While it should look like it’s from the Renaissance, you need to come up with you OWN idea- not replicate someone else's. To get inspiration, look at the poem examples that Ms. Sandlin printed out for you.

Inventions If you are placed in the ‘Inventions’ group, you will need to come up with an invention for OUR time, not the Renaissance Like the Renaissance, you will create a nicely-done drawing of your invention and information on how it will function While the drawing should look like it’s from the Renaissance, you need to come up with you OWN idea- not replicate someone else's. To find inspiration, look online for inventions/ideas made during the Renaissance

Drama If you were placed in the ‘Drama’ group, you will be assigned to create a play You will study Renaissance-era plays and create one similar to it, but that is uniquely your OWN The performance of the play needs to last between 3-5 minutes For inspiration, research plays during the Renaissance

Artisans If you were placed in the ‘Artisans’ group, you are assigned to make a type of good that was commonly sold during the Renaissance These can include: Clothing Jewelry Furniture Apothecary Blacksmiths You must also explain WHY your good is worth buying, and how it is different from other competitors’ products For inspiration, research artisans during the Renaissance

Patrons If you were assigned to be a patron, the first day you will be researching the Medici’s, the most famous patrons of the Renaissance. On the second day, you will be choosing who’s goods you want to buy! You will study: Who the Medici’s were, the prominent figures of the family, how they attained their wealth, their involvement in purchasing art, and anything else you think is worth knowing about them.

Everyone: Your GOAL is to IMPRESS the patrons! On the second day, patrons will go around and purchase the goods they find to be the best; the group with the largest amount of money combined WINS!
