What do I do I am the Career Coach in the Workforce Readiness department My job is to help students find work, along with my colleague Darren Stephens I am the point person for ESOL 3

What is a resume? Pronounced ‘reh-zum-ay’ It is a professional tool which displays your professional experience Relevant experience and skills should be listed Most employers require a resume to apply for a job Important to tailor your resume for the job you’re applying for

What does a good resume look like? The format of your resume is just as important as the content of your resume It is very important that your resume is neat and properly formatted The average employer looks at your resume for 15 seconds Your resume is a representation of you If your resume isn’t professional, you will be seen as unprofessional Transition to

Contact information It’s important to make sure the employer knows the best way to get in touch with you Make sure you have an appropriate email address Please list what type of phone number you are listing Make sure your voicemail is clear

Education List your highest level of education Note the location and years your attended Also list any interesting activities you may have done

Work experience List the places you have worked in ‘reverse chronological order’ List the company, its location, your title, and the dates you worked there List your responsibilities Important to have good word choice
