BACKGROUND “Great wines grow only from a great love of the land. From the bunch to the bottle.” – Giampaolo Tabarrini

“If I look backwards, I see the future…” BACKGROUND “If I look backwards, I see the future…” – Giampaolo Tabarrini

HISTORY For four generations the Tabarrini family has passionately culitvated their 22 hectare estate located just outside of Montefalco In the late 1990s, current owner Giampaolo Tabarrini decided to begin bottling their wines and developed the new cantina that is integrated perfectly into the rolling Umbrian landscape The new cantina was finished in May 2003 represents the Giampaolo’s desire to innovate while respecting tradition and history Giampaolo is assisted by his partner in life and in work Federica, his father Nello, and his uncle Angelo

GEOGRAPHY

VITICULTURE & VINIFICATION 11 hectares, half of the estate, is dedicated to the cultivation of Sagrantino In the vineyard, every single operation is closely supervised by Stefano Dini, who knows every inch of the property intimately. Consultant enologist Emiliano Falsini, a Tuscan with a passion for Umbria and Sagrantino in particular, helped by the faithful cellarman, Arturo The cellar, completely underground, is made up of three areas, one for the fermentation, one for the barrels, and one for storing the bottles. The ground floor is reserved for the bottling and labelling, and tasting. In between the two floors there is an elevator that brings the wine straight from the barrels, avoiding the need for vertical pressing. On the first floor, you can see the ritual of the drying the Sagrantino grapes used for passito

ADARMANDO Appellation: Bianco del Umbria I.G.T. Variety: 100% Trebbiano Spoletino Aspect: South East Age of Vineyards: 50 - 60 years Altitude: 350m a.s.l. Training system: Sylvoz Number of vines per hectare: 3000 Soil Type: Muddy, clay Production per hectare: 8 tons Ageing: At least 6 months in stainless steel sur lie, 12 months in bottle Number of bottles produced: 3,500 Notes: The dream of a great white wine from the hills of Sagrantino has been rediscovered and realised in this Trebbiano Spoletino, a traditional vine  of great elegance and charm. This thread between past and future is reminiscent of Armando, Giampaolo’s maternal  grandfather who, like this wine, had a generous and resolute character. This wine brightens the glass with tones of straw-yellow that turn into green and golden shades. The perfumes are of citrus fruits and white peach, enriched by elegant hints of minerals. Juicy, fresh and consistent, it is viscous on the palate with a rare complexity, full of character.

MONTEFALCO ROSSO Appellation: Montefalco D.O.C. Varieties: Mostly Sangiovese, with Barbera and Sagrantino Aspect: South East Age of Vineyard: 10 - 15 years Altitude: 420m a.s.l. Training: Spurred cordon Number of vines per hectare: 5.500 Soil Type: Sandy, muddy, with some clay and river pebbles Production per hectare: 6 tons Vinification: Soaking on the skins for over a month Ageing: 6 months in French oak barriques, 12 months in French oak barrels, 6 months in stainless steel, 12 months in botle Number of bottles produced: 22,000 Notes: This is not Sagrantino’s younger brother; it is a wine in its own right, with great dignity and much potential. The ruby tonality is a prelude to neat, intense perfumes reminiscent of ripe cherries and rose petals. Fully rounded on the palate, it retains the structure and sweetness of the fruit without losing freshness or depth.

COLLE GRIMALDESCO Appellation: Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Variety: 100% Sagrantino Aspect: South -South East Age of Vineyard: 10 - 15 years Altitude420m a.s.l. Training: Spurred cordon Number of vines per hectare: 5.500 Soil Type: Sandy, muddy, with some clay and river pebbles Production per hectare: 4.5 tons Vinification: Soaking on the skins for over a month Ageing: 18 months in French oak barrels, 18 months in French oak barriques, 18 months in bottle Number of bottles produced: 14,000 Notes: The first Sagrantino, the one that brought Giampaolo Tabarrini initial critical acclaim. The grapes come from clayey, silt-rich soil, well exposed to the southeast, guaranteeing perfectly ripened grapes and a powerful yet balanced wine that is refined in barriques and is marketed no less than four years after harvest. Sagrantino class, dynamism, flavou and depth.

Colle Grimaldesco

CAMPO ALLA CERQUA Appellation: Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Variety: 100% Sagrantino Aspect: South -South East Age of Vineyard: 10 - 15 years Altitude: 420m a.s.l. Training: Spurred cordon Number of vines per hectare: 4.000 Soil Type: Sandy, muddy, with some clay and river pebbles Production per hectare: 4 tons Vinification: Soaking on the skins for over a month Ageing: 36 months in French oak barrels, 18 months in bottle Number of bottles produced: 1,800 Notes: Stony soil, looser and lighter than the other vineyards, an easterly exposure, and aging in large barrels make this Sagrantino the bastion of elegance in Cantina Tabarrini. Cool, relaxed, distinctly mineral, it combines the individual identity of the grape with a joyous but very aromatic complexity. Marketed no less than four years after harvest.

Campo Alla Cerqua

COLLE ALLA MACCHIE Appellation: Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Variety: 100% Sagrantino Aspect: South Age of Vineyard: 10 - 15 years Altitude: 420m a.s.l. Training: Spurred cordon Number of vines per hectare: 4.000 Soil Type: Sandy, muddy, with some clay Production per hectare: 4 tons Vinification: Soaking on the skins for over a month Ageing: 36 months in French oak barrels, 42 months in bottle Number of bottles produced: 2,500 Notes: If Tabarrini wines are considered extreme, this label is even more so! A product of deep clay and a magnificent southern exposure, this wine is made from grapes of exceptional maturity. The resulting wine is aged in French barriques and refined for many months in the bottle. A muscular and powerful red, incredibly complex, huge, with superb tannins and longevity.   .
