Figure 1 Bacteria Can Sense Host Metabolites as Chemotaxis Ligands Host cells produce a wide range of metabolites that can be sensed by colonizing bacteria. Helicobacter pylori uses a mechanism to hydrolyze urea to CO2 and NH3.
