Project METEOR 07-08 [P08102 RITSAT I] Project Overview RITSAT I is RIT’s first satellite and will serve as the payload for project METEOR. RITSAT I will be placed in sub-orbital flight and have the capability of relaying pressure and temperature sensory data back to a ground station. The satellite will also be able to relay still video images to METEOR’s mission control room. Amateur radio operators will be able to communicate with RITSAT I for research purposes. Design Requirements Satellite Housing Size of 10cm x 10cm x 12cm Communications occur in FCC license bands Downlink capability and control Sense external temperature Cameras for orbital pictures Survive 24hrs on batteries Implement off the shelf components Team Members Steven Carpenter, Dave Layerle, Jimmy Tanis, Steve Rygiel Communication and Power System Test Satellite Housing Analog Data Flow Chart Work Summary Developing communication and sensory software programs Completed power board hardware, current and output power measurement tests PC to PC communication tests in process Completed communication analyzer tests Tested radio receiver sensitivity level Completing joint power/communications subsystem tests Communications System block diagram Radio Communications System Power Distribution System Control Board Testing Project Guides: Dr. Dorin Patru (RIT) Dr. Jeffrey Kozak (RIT) Special Thanks: John Mcyintyre (Harris) Control System PCB Layout
