Background Importance Erosion Sustainable structures Temperate rain forest Litter

Hypothesis Implementing trail structures and drainage ditches will deter erosion from heavily trafficked trails and impacted areas. Overtime if campus trails are maintained by the ECC social trails will stay closed and vegetation will begin to return. People using the forest for recreation have an impact

Preserving the Evergreen Forest We want to preserve the forest Keep it enjoyable for everyone Wetlands

Erosion is the issue Erosion pollutes waterways with sediments and excess nutrients Off trail exploring can accelerate erosion Disturbing soil releases CO2 Methods to protect soil

Maintaining our natural lands sustainably Prevents erosion Provide buffers to best maintain ecological systems. Promotes environmental stewardship Safety Reduce human impact Prevents erosion muddy areas, loss of saplings and other fauna maintaining the space by keeping the soil intact promotes environmental stewardship natural connections with nature environmental ed safe muddy. widow makers, accessibility and sustainable appreciation of wild and natural areas. reduces human impact no social trails LNT!

We will have a positive impact on the environment Reroute trails Remove social trails Remove invasive species or any litter Use sustainable trail structures -check steps -turnpikes -bridges -water diversion creating and maintaining open and wild spaces is beneficial to wildlife in that environment as well as to humans
