Model Young AFCEAN Program Sole non-competitive award Prerequisite for winning the Young AFCEAN Chapter Program Award Chapters set goals and submit final achievements Program lasts two years In 2017 set Goals for 2018 In 2019 complete Final Achievement for 2018 Program based on the AFCEA fiscal year October 1 through September 30 Submitted to and determined by their RVP Applied for via the chapter officer tools

Model Young AFCEAN Program Setting Goals Log into the Chapter Officer Tools Click on Model YAF Program Click on Create 2018 Goals

Model Young AFCEAN Program Setting Goals Complete chapter position and email Click on Goal Category dropdown menu and type in Goal #1

Model Young AFCEAN Program Setting Goals Or Click on “Select from Sample Goals”

Model Young AFCEAN Program Sample Goals Pick the goal you wish to use and click on “Select Goal” It will auto-populate in the Goal field Use as many sample goals as you wish

Model Young AFCEAN Program Setting Goals A minimum of six goals must be set At least three categories – to include Membership A mix of written goals and sample goals are fine

Model Young AFCEAN Program Final Achievement Four levels of achievement Note that not all goals are marked as “Met” RVP still deemed this chapter worthy of the Model Young AFCEAN award If you do not meet or partially meet a goal be sure to explain why

Model Young AFCEAN Program Approval Process The Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs) approve the Model YAC Program Goals and add their comments The following year the RVPs approve or disapprove the Final Achievement online and make additional comments

Young AFCEAN Awards Young AFCEAN Chapter Award Focus is on providing programs and initiatives geared to the needs of Young AFCEANs including professional development Compete with chapters in same size category Chapter President typically nominates their YAC Program for this award Has to have received Model YAC Program Award to apply

Young AFCEAN Awards Distinguished Young AFCEAN (DYA) 40 or under Can only win once Main focus is on AFCEA contributions Emerging Leadership Must have won DYA award (at least two years ago) For example, if you won DYA in 2015, you can win Emerging Leader for 2017 Main focus is on demonstration of continuous leadership since winning the DYA award

Young AFCEAN Awards Distinguished Young AFCEAN of the Year The AFCEA Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs) personally select one of the nominated DYAs from their Region to receive the Regional Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award The Awards Committee then votes one of these Regional DYAs as the Distinguished Young AFCEAN of the Year Recipient is not notified ahead of ceremony

Young AFCEAN Awards Awards cycle runs September through February Six week nomination period Deadline is Sunday, October 29 at midnight EDT Do not leave submissions until final week! Followed by one week RVP endorsement period November Awards Committee voting period December Confirmation of winners Notification of winners February Onsite ceremony at WEST 2018

Young AFCEAN Awards 40 Under 40 Not in this awards cycle Presented at DCOS 2018 Nominations open November 14, 2017 – February 14, 2018 Focused on professional achievements instead of AFCEA involvement

Women’s Appreciation Award Award initiated by Women in AFCEA Started in 2013 by Membership Committee Women in AFCEA aims to Increase women membership in AFCEA Advocate for more women speakers at AFCEA International events Encourage more female participation at events Replicate these initiatives at the local level via the Women Outreach Leaders in chapters
