REQUEST MAST OVERVIEW

Request Mast MCO 1700.23E MCO 1700.23 / NAVMC 1700.23F Includes both the RIGHT of all Marines to directly communicate grievances to any superior commander in the chain of command up to the Marine’s Commanding General ...and the REQUIREMENT for that commanding officer to consider that matter and personally respond to that Marine

Request Mast MCO 1700.23E Request Mast should be handled within 24 hours Should be afforded an opportunity to Request Mast in person Commanding Generals (CGs) may authorize a Request Mast to be reviewed/facilitated by the Command Inspector The Inspector MAY NOT respond to, nor deny a Request Mast, on behalf of the CG, but may make appropriate recommendations

Request Mast MCO 1700.23E Any interference with a Marine's right to request mast or any attempt of reprisal or restriction is expressly prohibited and punishable under the UCMJ
