Yellow Vocabulary Sheets Due Monday, February 24th (next class period). You will get them back Monday so you can study from them!

Extra Credit There are two assignments, each worth 20 points. Both assignments are due on Exam Day.

Notebooks You will be leaving your notebooks with me after your exam. I will pick, at random, 5 warm up questions. If you did the 5 I choose, you get full credit. If you missed any of the 5 I choose, you loose points. This will be a 15 pt assignment. If you did not complete warm-ups – find them on my Website in the PPTs.

Speed vs Velocity WS You will have 15 minutes to finish the Speed vs Velocity WS from last week. Again, don’t write on the white sheet with the problems. EACH person must turn in their own sheet of notebook paper with their answers on it.

Graphing WS Describe the motion presented in the two graphs. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Each person needs their own sheet of paper to answer the questions. You will not receive credit if instructions are not followed.

Groups for Graphing WS – 3A Christensen, Riley; Reich, Cody; Horne, Chelsea Jenkins, Janel; Cooke, Emilie; Rodriguez, Daniela Zerapio, Elizabeth; Turpen, Jacob; Hussey, Julienne Butterfield, Hyrum; Ortez Pina, Arturo; Gray, Randall Feierfeil, Kyle; Fuller, Brooke; Hall, Emily; Hernandez, Carlos Terry, Taylor; Cogle, Katlyn; Knudsen, Leora; Meredith, Brandon Jordan, Arica; Prunetti - York, Brittany; Vogt, Jordan Walliser, Katie; Shiley, Cameron; Cedillo, Karissa Guerrero Pena, Juan; Beck, Ashley; Lasher, Gage Price, Mckenzie; Jones, Tayler; Juarez, Bianca; Hogarth, Darren Ferency-Giffin, Gabriel; Salazar, David; Adamson, Madison; Mejia, Kayla

Groups for Graphing WS – 4A Lopez-Hernandez, Pablo; Taylor, Camren; Hestekin, Samantha Kessler, Natalie; Sepulveda-Najera, Oscar; Kellogg, Zachary Serrano, Roxana; Hernandez, Jose; Perez, Juan Harrison, Walker; Baker, Jadyn; Smith, Robert Hancock, CJ; Carson, Robert; Guerrero, Diana Christensen, Sadie; Stombaugh, Jenna; Allen, Courtney; Breshears, Megan Ross, Erik; Galvan, Alondra; Rodriguez, Lesly Ables, Autumn; Halsted, Forest; Reding, Kelsey Solis, Summer; Cassidy, Tre-Sen; Castillo, Oscar

Acceleration

Acceleration Notice how the time is squared in the denominator. Rate of change in the speed and/or direction of an object. Units: Speed/time m/s2 mi/hr2 Notice how the time is squared in the denominator.

Calculating Acceleration Acceleration is the rate of change in speed and/or direction. Mathematically we represent this as: What do you notice about this equation? Write down your thoughts in your notebook.

Calculating Acceleration Final velocity – Initial velocity Remember, acceleration could be same speed, but change in direction! Divided by time This is how we get squared units in the denominator.

Practice Calculations: A car goes from 0 to 100 km/hr in 10 seconds. What is its acceleration in km/hr? (Hint: Pay attention to units!) 3600 km/hr2 = 4000 km/hr2

Practice Calculations A bus slams on its breaks and goes from 30.0 km/hr to 15.0 km/hr in 4.00 seconds. What is its acceleration in km/hr? - 13500 km/hr2 What does negative acceleration mean?

Practice Calculations A car pulled out of a parking lot in 8 seconds going 35.0 m/s. What was its acceleration? 4.375 m/s2 = 4 m/s2 IF YOU START FROM REST – INITIAL VELOCITY = 0!

Practice Take out a sheet of paper, write your name on it. Find a partner. You will EACH write the answers to the 6 questions on your notebook paper.
