Soteriology Pt 2 Empower Intro – Greek, theology, long words like Soteriology, covenants, sanctification, justification etc but expecting outcomes, foundations, motivations, the why we do things when we are faced with circumstances background/neck privilege to share on this topic Pray – not theology but heart changed

Soteriology – recap Soter/logos. Created man The term “Soteriology” comes from two Greek terms, namely, soter meaning “saviour” or “deliverer” and ‘logo’s meaning the study of. Essentially, in theology it is used to refer to the study of the biblical doctrine of salvation. It often includes such topics as the nature, extent of the atonement, process of salvation as a divine plan designed to restore sinful created man back into eternal fellowship with God. Most would refer to this as the central theme in Scripture. In the beginning God created mankind perfect and purposed to eternal life. Edenic covenant, freewill. Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic, Palestinian (Israel), Davidic, then 400 years silent... Christ - freewill all over again and now you and I are now included... Its man that fell and now we have a way back and now our real journey begins

Soteriology Redemption Salvation Prayer Works - Sanctification and Justification Bible and Prayer Sin and being ‘unsaved’ Conclusion Redemption Names of God - El names... Jehovah names – Matt 1:21 Jehovah Jehoshua Christos – redeemer, saviour, the king of all kings. Lk 2:11, 26, 27, Acts 2:34-36,Eph 1:20-23 Salvation prayer A declaration, the ‘I do’ with God BUT what happens next – I said it, nothing else for me to do, Im going to heaven, im a good person, I'm not perfect but I said the prayer Works We are Christians but are we identified by that? (Strava story – personal journey) How are we identified? we are saved for works not by works (sanctification). Justification and Sanctification are two key theological areas. Justification is the ‘being made right’ with God through obedience to Christ. Sanctification is the ‘setting apart’ from wrong doings and being more like Christ with the Holy Spirit making us more like Him every day. but there’s nothing to prove here, nothing to earn here. Just that we are now part of 8% of the population are Christians today, once upon a time there was only about 12 Christians and the task was handed over to them to do the work of Christ and now its up to us... For our generation we are it! We are the ones to do the work of Christ, the sermon on the mount “beatitudes” is what Jesus has asked His church to do, that's us, we are it. Are we doing it to get a better place in heaven NO, we are the reflection of God the moon – reflecting the Son in a dark world. God has called every one of us to be part of His work and now it’s up to us to listen to the Holy Spirit, be obedient, work on the areas that are so good and be obedient when he has asked us to do something for Him We are ‘positionally’ holy and even perfect before God because of what Jesus has done, but we are always working out our salvation. Sin is still a very real part of our lives but it no longer defines us. Over time, we should become more obedient and less disobedient, sin should become less prevalent, and we should become more and more holy (set apart, different from the world) as we continue to grow in spiritual maturity. How do we get there? - The Word and the Holy Spirit. Bible and Prayer The idea is to form and develop a real relationship with God because that’s ultimately what salvation is about, becoming one with Him. The Word, reading it, listening to it, studying it, learning it more and more. That’s God talking to us and prayer is us talking to God. How can you have a relationship with someone you never hear from nor talk to... God is the same the only thing is he is always ready to a talk to you, are you always ready to hear from Him. Sin and being ‘unsaved’ Can we be saved and continue to sin? We all sin, but we should be sinning less. (Not a licence to sin, but an allowance when we do.) If someone is sinning more or is not progressing forward in their spiritual journey, were they really saved in the first place? Can we become ‘unsaved’? Answer: yes but not by sin (Rom 8:33-39, John 3:15 [belief, not action, brings salvation], Titus 3:5) Mark 3:29; Luke 12:10 – yes, by blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit is to speak wrongly of the Holy Spirit. How? When we say that something that is of God is not of God, or when we say something that is not of God is of God. Not because God is unforgiving, but because we will never find God if we always speak and see wrongly of Him. Not an accidental word/thought/phrase, but a heart attitude of denial. Conclusion As a worldview many people believe that they will get to stand at the pearly gates and plead their case before God and explain how good a person they have been BUT that’s not true there are no pearly gates, it’s simple Rev 20:11-15. The only way your name can be written in the Book of Life is to accept Jehovah Jehoshua Christos to rule over your life, and God who created man, will see you perfect because of Christ and you will have eternal life with him. There’s only one thing that I have to ask God, and I ask Him through my continual renewal of my salvation is my name there.
