Digital Footprints

What are you doing online?

Digital Footprint

Digital Footprint??? Simply put, a digital footprint is the amount of content, whether it be words, photographs, audio, or video, that is traceable back to a given individual.   Parts of your digital footprint include photographs uploaded to sites like flickr, blog posts attributed to you on Blogger, video files you uploaded to YouTube, posts you wrote on your friends' Facebook Walls, and posts to your Facebook wall by your friends.  Content like this makes up your digital footprint.

When does your footprint start?

A recent survey from AVG, an online security company, found that 81% of kids under the age of 2 have some kind of “digital footprint” online, usually in the form of e-mail accounts, social networking pages and photos posted on the Web. http://www.mainstreet.com/article/smart-spending/technology/baby-steps-81-infants-have-digital- footprint

WHAT SOME KIDS BELIEVE I can be anonymous I can permanently delete I know....

There is No Delete Button on the Web You can have a historical snapshot of a site within seconds. Internet Archives gives you back up of music, speeches, etc. Way Back Machine finds backups for websites Library of Congress will be publishing backups of Twitter Internet Archive Way Back Machine
