Maths Network Meetings Chance for colleagues to talk about and share good practice across the age ranges – what’s the same, what’s different? Transition from KS2 to KS3 – what is useful for secondary schools to know and how can this information be given in the most efficient way? Bar Modelling training. Sharing of best practice in the classroom – useful tips…How are we embracing the mastery curriculum and are there any trends across schools?

Transition Is a SATS score really enough information for a KS3 leader? How can year 6 Teachers help? Are Secondary Teachers using/ repeating methods that Primary Teachers used or are they un teaching to reteach? Is it possible for colleagues to visit each other and gain experience of the differences and similarities of learning environment, teaching strategies and resources? Could we set up a lesson study? How can taster days be made more effective, what do year 6 students value the most about taster days/ sessions?

Sharing best practice Marking and feedback (see examples) ‘Reasoning’ document to generate ‘next steps’ Challenging more able learners (Rising Stars Brain Academy). Bar modelling as a tool for supporting the interpretation and understanding of word problems. White Rose Hub resources – teaching for mastery.

In this question we are ‘finding the difference’. Subtraction (e.g. 1) Peter has 10 pencils and Jane has 3 pencils. How many more pencils does Peter have than Jane? Model (Version 3) Calculations 10 3 - = ? 7 Peter 10 Jane 3 ? 7 In this question we are ‘finding the difference’.

Solving Equations Dillon has 52 sweets in a packet. He gives the same amount of sweets to three of his friends. There were 16 left over. Model Calculations 3f + 16 = 52 f f f 16 -16 -16 3f = 36 ÷3 ÷3 36 52 a = 12
