Background on me – current role, previous role, background in FE Background on me – current role, previous role, background in FE. I have been asked to talk about good progression and success into KS5. As you will be aware EKC and Canterbury College are about to merger, that will mean we are responsible for the education of 6000 young people. We recruit students from most of your schools. Good Progression and Success into KS5, how Schools and Colleges can work together Lucy McLeod

Information, Advice & Guidance Putting the student first Is it the right route for their intended destination? Where do they live, how far will they travel? What support is available? Is it the right environment for them at this point in their life? First of all I need say, we all know that we are competitors and funding is limited and we all need students to survive, but if we can get beyond that, if we can all put the needs of the student first then those students will be in the right place and therefore happier and more likely to succeed. Which is to all our benefit.

Qualifications & Pathways Level 1 – Progression Curriculum Level 2 – 4 D or 3s Level 3 - 4 C or 4s Level 3 Extended Diploma – 4 Cs or 5s. Develop qualifications and pathways in partnership with colleges not in isolation. Vocational quals such as Hair and Beauty, Construction, Catering, Motor vehicle need to do a level 2 before they do a level 3, but will come out with a L3 at the end year 12 just as they would at school equivalent to xx UCAS points.

Transition Arrange talks at the school by our staff Provide a school report Data sharing agreement – two way Provide safeguarding file Provide details of support received Encourage attendance at taster days/welcome days Arrange for visits for cohorts of students Link your Careers Advisers/pastoral staff with ours to track progress in the first 6 weeks.
