Application License stipulations ArcGIS Online is made available to Ball State faculty, staff, and active students for university-related teaching and research purposes only. How to gain access to our account Faculty: Send an excel file with your students’ names and Ball State email addresses to asgibson2@bsu.edu. Students will receive an email that invites them to our ArcGIS Online account. These periodically end up in the clutter folder in their email, have them check there for missing invitations. They will need to follow the link in the email to set up an account. Please advise them to use their BSU email to set up the account. Once students have been added to the BSU ArcGIS Online account, the instructor will need to create a group within ArcGIS Online (aka: History 320 - Fall 2016) and add students to that group. Instructions for creating and using groups. Note: If the students need access to BAO, Community Analyst or ArcGIS Pro, you will need to let the ESRI administrator know when sending the list of names. Individual Students: Send a request directly to asgibson2@bsu.edu from your Ball State email account. Also let the admin know about any groups (classroom, BAO, Community Analyst, ArcGIS Pro) that you would like access to. November 16, 2018
Credits ArcGIS Online operates on a credit-based system. Tools and operations you use in the system consume different amounts of credits (see next slide). Each member of the BSU ArcGIS Online account will be given an initial 200 credits. Additional credits can be granted for large research projects, or for those who are using ArcGIS Online in more than one class per semester. Contact the License Coordinator at asgibson2@bsu.edu to request additional credits. November 16, 2018
Credit Usage Guide Note: Some tools, like geocoding, are more computing-intensive. Therefore, they use a higher number of credits. If possible, do all geocoding in ArcMap and then share to ArGIS Online. This will minimize your credit usage November 16, 2018
BAO and Community Analyst Business Analyst Online and Community Analyst Uses ArcGIS Online technology for mapping, geoprocessing, and analysis services. Operations such as defining areas for reports and generating reports consume credits from the BSU ArcGIS Online Account. Must ask the ESRI Site License Coordinator (asgibson2@bsu.edu) to be added to these groups before you can access them. November 16, 2018
Deleting Accounts From ArcGIS Online Student accounts that have been inactive for more than two years will be deleted. All content will also be deleted, and will not be recoverable. At this time no warning messages will be sent out prior to deletion. This will change after the Fall 2016 school year. It is suggested that students wishing to save their college projects create a free account, or purchase an ArcGIS Online account and move their content after leaving BSU. November 16, 2018
