Men of the Great Awakening Jonathon Edwards Became one of the best-known preachers 3. He terrified listeners with images of God’s anger but promised they could be saved

Men of the Great Awakening George Whitefield Inspired colonists to help others 4. Drew thousands of people with his sermons and raised funds to start a home for orphans

Conflicts from the Great Awakening Created Change 5. In communities, the Great Awakening would cause religious group to argue and split apart. The Great Awakening caused people to join other Protestant group such as Baptist

Outcomes from the Great Awakening The Great Awakening helped to spread the idea that all people are equal in the eyes of God 6. Encouraged ideas of liberty, equality and resistance to authority This will contribute to the colonists desire to reject the King of England in the American Revolution

Men of Enlightenment Isaac Newton One of the first scientists to practice Enlightenment 8. Discovered natural laws governing the universe He was able to define the laws of gravity

Men of Enlightenment John Locke Applied the idea of natural law to human societies 9. Argued that people have natural rights 11.
