LCA = method for the identification and quantification of: Energy use Material use Waste Emmissions, to the environment in all stages of the life cycle of the product. From the sourcing of the raw materials to the end-of-life scenario such as for instance incineration or recycling.
It is not just our opinion Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a tool for the systematic evaluation of the environmental aspects of a product or service system through all stages of its life cycle. LCA provides an adequate instrument for environmental decision support. Reliable LCA performance is crucial to achieve a life-cycle economy. It is not just our opinion in order to successfully address environmental sustainability issues, we must also consider the design, manufacture, and use of a product across its entire life cycle: from raw material extraction and conversion; to manufacture and distribution; through use, re-use, and recycling; to ultimate disposal. The objective is to move towards a lifecycle-driven 'circular' economy, with cascading use of resources and residual waste close to zero.
