Monday, March 20 Academic Vocabulary – Week 7 Convey – verb [kuh n-vey]  transport or carry to a place to communicate; make known; impart (a message or information) Bell Work – SAT Writing & Language # Complete the SAT Writing and Language passage. Write your answers on your Bell work paper. Number your answers to correspond with the numbers on the passage. Do not write on the passage! Quiz on Chapters 1 & 2 tomorrow.

SAT Essay Reminders: Include author’s name, title of the article and author’s purpose in the intro. paragraph. Thesis statement should identify the three persuasive or rhetorical elements you will be discussing in the essay. Introduction and conclusion should be more than one sentence. Persuasive/rhetorical elements should be discussed in the order they were identified in your thesis.

Use transitions between paragraphs. Each paragraph should have a topic sentence that identifies the rhetorical device about to be discussed in that paragraph. Part of your score is demonstrating that you understand the entire argument. Make sure that you include enough evidence to do that. No need to identify the location of your quote. Include enough of the quote or examples to prove your point.

Tuesday, March 21 Academic Vocabulary – Week 7, Day 2 Write the definition in your own words. Explain your rationale for each.

Wednesday, March 22 Academic Vocabulary – Week 7 Choose one of the activities and complete the Day 3 box. Bell Work – Curley’s wife What is your opinion of Curley’s wife at this point? (4-5 sentences)

Thursday, March 23 Academic Vocabulary – Week 7 Choose one of the activities and complete the Day 4 box. Bell work – Relationships In ways do our relationships affect our goals and dreams? Explain (4-5 sentences)

Friday, March 24 Academic Vocabulary – Week 7 Choose one of the activities and complete the Day 5 box. Bell Work – Chapters 3 & 4 Summarize the major events from Chapters 3 and 4. (4-5 sentences) Final Test on Of Mice and Men Wednesday.
