The Believer’s Rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ

What is the Judgment seat of Christ? The event where all true Believers will stand before Jesus and give an account for how faithfully they lived for Him and served Him

Key verses on the judgement seat of Christ and rewards for Believers Matthew 6:20 Romans 14:10,12 1 Corinthians 3:8 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 1 Corinthians 4:2 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 2 Corinthians 5:10 Ephesians 2:8-10 Ephesians 6:8 Philippians 3:14 Colossians 3:23-25 2 Timothy 4:8 Hebrews 11:6 James 1:12 1 Peter 5:4 1 John 2:28 2 John 8 Revelation 2:10 Revelation 3:11 Revelation 4:10

Important teaching on the judgment seat of Christ The Judgment Seat of Christ is also called the Beam Seat Judgement 2 Corinthians 5:10 Look who will be present there Romans 14:10,12 No unbelievers will be there. They will have their own separate judgement (the Great White Throne Judgment). Revelation 20:11-12,15

The Purpose of the Judgment Seat of Christ The purpose is not to determine whether or not you will spend eternity in heaven or hell. Since only Believers will be there, all who are present will be in heaven forever (Romans 8:1).

The Purpose of the Judgment Seat of Christ The purpose is to openly reveal each Believer’s deeds, whether good or bad. Even the motives behind your good deeds will be evaluated. 2 Corinthians 5:10 1 Corinthians 4:5a

Suffering for Christ Keeping Christ’s commands Helping the poor/needy Meeting the physical needs of others Sacrificially serving Jesus Obeying authorities Working heartily for Jesus Helping Believers in different ways

Loving only those who love you; hating enemies Doing good for the praise of others Grumbling about how God blesses others Following traditions that do not honor God’s Word Being “salt” with no influence Causing dissention among Believers Violating God’s rules in serving Him Giving false teaching

When Will the “Bema” Take Place? Many have tried to set the date when Christ will return but . . . Mark 13:32-33 Only God knows! 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 Jesus will come in the clouds first to take Believers to heaven

What Kind of Rewards Will be Given The Imperishable crown Faithfulness will be rewarded with crowns The Imperishable crown 1 Corinthians 9:25

The soul winner’s crown 1 Thessalonians 2:19

The crown of righteousness 2 Timothy 4:8

The crown of Life James 1:12

The crown of glory 1 Peter 5:4

Faithfulness will be rewarded Positions of honor and authority Matthew 19:28 There will be Surprises! Matthew 19:29-30 Matthew 25:14-30 Treasures in heaven Matthew 6:20 Luke 16:9 Galatians 6:7-9 2 Corinthians 9:6

What Will Believers Do with These Rewards? Revelation 4:10-11 “The twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, ‘Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou didst create all things, and because of Thy will they existed, and were created.’”

What Will Happen to Believers Who Do Not Live for Jesus They will suffer loss (1 Corinthians 3:15) They will be ashamed (1 John 2:28) There is a “sin unto death” (1 John 5:16)

How should you respond to this teaching? Be motivated to serve Jesus (Philippians 3:14) Be motivated to holy living (1 John 3:3) Stir up one another to love (for God and others) and good works (Hebrews 10:24-25)
