INHOPE FOUNDATION – CSAM: how are we doing INHOPE FOUNDATION – CSAM: how are we doing? A focus on the current state of Child Sexual Abuse Material online production, distribution and exploitation. Trends, threats and global response. Maria Grazia Testa – GLOBAL programme manager – inhope FOUNDATION

What are CSAM and CSE? CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) and CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) are the documentation of a child being sexually abused, a video, an image, a photograph, a recording of the violence, which every time published, shared, reproduced or seen perpetuates the abuse. Today, thousands of CSAM and CSE items circulate on the Internet and hundreds new are uploaded every hour. The number of child sexual abuse material reports that the International Association of Internet Hotlines INHOPE receives has been increasing by a yearly average of 45%, since the start of the programme.

Why INHOPE? Our work starts when a child has already been abused. Our work is to make sure it does not happen again.

Our Network

Notice and Takedown Process

ICCAM Identification of previously reported material, allowing thus to focus only on new evidence Crawling of websites and URLs directories retrieving all the images and videos available, hence reducing the time analysts require to manually surf web pages and locate CSAM Tracing of hosting country and allocation to competent hotline Categorization based on legislative level of abuse and demographic info (age, gender), with options for bulk classification which reduces processing time Direct transfer of reports to competent country hotlines and to Interpol Functionality for direct transfer to ISPs and national LEA Statistical tools with real time summary data of the reports handled and their demographic and legislative properties Operational management tools: queues, status, tracking Synchronization application programming interfaces which allows the exchange of data with other preminent hotlines systems (NCMEC, Arachnid) allowing thousands of reports every day to be transferred automatically to hosting countries Security and Reliability in the process of reports exchange and archiving

Technology - The Report Box HOT REQUIREMENTS REPORT BOX FULFILLS Plug and play reporting system No initial or running cost for the hotline Web Front End + Analyst Back End + Storage +Maintenance One step implementation and ready to go Flexibility: customize it to all reports type (CSAM, Cyberbullying, Hate speech, ect) Security Reliability Light product (no client installation) Service all inclusive! ICCAM Compatibility FUNCTIONALITIES: - Report page pluggable into any Web Page - Customizable fields - Multiple forms/templates available - Publish/unpublish - Multilanguage supported - Agent reports queue by status (active/archive) - .csv Data extraction - Hotline individual repository space

REGIONALLY AND GLOBALLY CONNECTED To defeat a Network it takes a Network - Governments - National Police - Internet Providers - Child Welfare Organizations IN EVERY COUNTRY REGIONALLY AND GLOBALLY CONNECTED
