Oceans and Marine Habitats

Oceans and water cover 75% of the earth 100’s of types of animals live in the water. Before we can discover what these animals are and how they live we must first think about where they live. There are 5 oceans around the world; The Atlantic Ocean The Pacific Ocean The Arctic Ocean The Southern Ocean The Indian Ocean

On a map it is easy to tell where the oceans are. This is because they have 3 useful things; Colours Labels A key

Colours Why are they useful? You can tell things apart easier. For example Here is a square and a circle Here is a green square and a blue circle.

A Key Keys are used to unlock things. A key for a map does the same job! The information in a key helps a person to identify things on a map. For example; here is a map of our classroom Here is the key. Our Cloakroom The Horse Table The Bat table

Our Task! We are going to be adding colour and a key to our own map to help us know where the oceans are. We are going to colour the oceans blue. We are going to colour the land green.
