Going After Cacciato Socratic Seminar 2 Considerations on Plot Structure, Narrative Prospective and Narrative Framing Going After Cacciato Socratic Seminar 2

In Thomas Foster’s How to Read Literature Like a Professor, he asserts… The Paris trip story is an invention of Paul Berlin’s mind. Foster says, “He creates events and people out of the novel, stories, histories he knows, his own included, all of which is unwitting on his part, the pieces just appearing out of his memory” (30).

“Life, what is it but a dream?” At the end of Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, the novel’s closing poem ends with a seemingly rhetorical question: “Life, what is it but a dream?”

“Soldiers are dreamers.” The epigraph of Going After Cacciato states… “Soldiers are dreamers.” -Siegfried Sassoon
