SSHRC Program Architecture

Objectives of the Connection Program FACILITATE THE MULTIDIRECTIO-NAL FLOW OF KNOWLEDGE INCREASE THE ACCESSIBILITY AND USE OF KNOWLEDGE SUPPORT THE BUILDING OF RECIPROCAL RELATIONSHIPS SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF RESEARCH NETWORKS AND TOOLS MAKE NETWORKS AND TOOLS MORE ACCESSIBLE

Connection Grants - Description Support short term knowledge mobilization events and activities - maximum one year Events: $7,000 to $25,000 Outreach Activities: $7,000 to $50,000 Eligibility Requirement: 50% Matching Fund

Matching Funds Budget requested from SSHRC Mandatory matching funds Example: $10,000 Mandatory matching funds Example: $5,000

Connection Grants - Two Ways to Apply Institutional Individual

Multiple Applications Rule APPLICANT OR PROJECT DIRECTOR Once per calendar year NO ACTIVE CONNECTION GRANTS Final Activity Report/ Achievement Report must be completed AUTOMATIC EXTENSIONS Extended grants count as active grants

Changes to Connection Grants No CVs for Collaborators Deadline 8:00 p.m. ET On-line system offline for 48 hours Knowledge Mobilization Plan no longer required Relationship to Other Support no longer required Event Presenters form streamlined

Frequently Asked Questions Presenters – who to list, how many, and how much information to provide? Are recurrent annual events eligible? I have been invited to a conference in France, can I apply for a Connection Grant to support my travel expenses? What is the difference between an Event and an Outreach Activity

Frequently Asked Questions Can students participate as co-applicants? Would my project be penalized because I have only in-kind support? I submitted my application. Why has SSHRC not received it? A colleague wrote a letter of support. Why has it not been considered towards 50% matching funds?
