Ship building and recycling Sander den Heijer, MSc - Sector Manager, Netherlands Maritime Technology

EU building vs. EU recycling Facilities Equipment Expertise

The industry and recycling Circular economy Cradle to cradle Corporate social responsibility

Recycling in Europe - market New but not so new Opportunity for existing and new yards If a market develops: innovation and R&D Need for clear European policy

Recycling in Europe - economy Employment Economic growth Innovation High standards Easy inspections

SEA Europe and ship recycling Position at this moment depends on developments SEA Europe might consider an association Invitation: CCMI & EC to explore possibilities

Resume SEA Europe is a stakeholder There is a potential for a European recycling market Clear European policy is needed (including R&D support) This is also a matter of common sense and corporate social responsibility. A status-quo in countries like India and Bangladesh is simply not an option (it also puts reputation of shipping industry at stake).

European ship building and recycling: an open invitation to explore possibilities
