¿Qué? WHAT IS A DIRECT OBJECT? The direct object answers the question WHAT or WHO in regard to what the subject is doing. ¿Qué? For example, in the sentence “Bob eats an apple.” The direct object is the APPLE.

Let’s label some sentences... Label the SUBJECT, VERB, and DIRECT OBJECT Johnny plays with his dog. SUBJECT VERB D.O. Maria opens the door. SUBJECT D.O. VERB I talk often. SOME SENTENCES HAVE NO DIRECT OBJECT! SUBJECT VERB
