JCLC Over the summer 30 of Alhambra’s JROTC cadets went to Prescott, Arizona for the annual JROTC Cadet Leadership Camp, JCLC. It’s a 4 day, 3 night camp which includes Marksmanship, Canoeing, Rope Bridge, LRCs, Archery, Endurance Runs, Zip Lining, Survival and Drown Proofing. On the last day of the camp cadets went to a social gathering and danced the night away. “It was pretty awesome, the topics we went over were very interesting and exciting” –Frankie B.

CHU Practice The RECONDO Team had their first taste of competition at Flagstaff, Arizona during CHU Practice. They placed 3rd overall and loved the 3 day camp where they gathered by the fire and made unforgettable memories. Senior Cadet, Alex Carballo says “It was a little bit of a challenge but we had fun .”

Boot Camp Starting at 0800 all 8th Battalion JROTC cadets met at Alhambra High School to participate in the annual Boot Camp event and were put through an intensive leadership training. As LET 1 cadet Suman Das says “ The beginning was intense but over the day it became more enjoyable and I really had a good time.”

Rifle Meet On September 23rd the JROTC Marksmanship team competed at the annual Carver Mountain Rifle competition at Cesar Chavez High School. They placed 7th place overall. Team Captain, Harley Nicholson (who placed in the top 30%) says “We did good, but next time we’ll be even better”

CHU 1 The Battalion's RECONDO Team went to Flagstaff not only to practice but to compete against 15 other schools. They placed 2nd in Land Navigation and 3rd in Recovery. “It was difficult but teamwork is key, as long as you follow instructions and not leave anyone behind you’ll succeed” – Freshman, Private Gonzalez

Open House Cadets welcomed students and their families to the 2017 Open House night. Thanks to the Instructors and volunteer cadets everybody enjoyed a nice meal before exploring what we had to offer. The RECONDO Team and Marksmanship Team gave everybody a glimpse of the types of activities they do such as rope bridge, marksmanship. It was overall a nice evening and smiles were all around.

St. Mary’s Food Bank A handful of JROTC cadets gave their time to help those in need by volunteering at St.Mary’s Food Bank. They bagged, boxed, and sorted donated food that will be distributed to help alleviate hunger to those suffering. Good job lions.
