Marketing Catholic Schools The 7 “I” Approach Marketing Catholic Schools

Recognize the Pillars of Greatness Vision Leadership Quality Creativity Communication

The 7 “I” Approach Implement Invest Identify Improve Inform Invite Involve

Identify What are your needs? Who is your audience? What are your assets? What do you want to accomplish?

Inform About your existence About your needs About your program Keep the info flowing

Invite Invite people to be involved Invite them to invest Invite them into the mission Use focus groups

Involve Utilize volunteers Know what appeals Listen, listen, listen Have many input groups

Implement Use suggestions “Dig the hole” Use what you have learned

Invest In human capital Have a budget Take time Be a model

Improve Don’t rest on your laurels Use synergy; be sure you’re in the right forest Learn from your mistakes or those of others

Try this... Who are your internal publics? Who are your external publics? What would you say about your school? What makes it unique? Why would I want to invest?

Finally…Know the Rules The best way to get money is to ask for it; People give to people, not to causes; Only those who have committed are qualified to ask those who have not;

More rules... 90% of your money will come from 10% of your prospects; The best givers have given; The gift is the beginning of the relationship, not the end;

Even MORE rules... Be sure to keep careful financial records; Be sure to recognize benefactors; Be suspicious about fundraising rules.

A hand not extended in giving is in no position to receive. REMEMBER: A hand not extended in giving is in no position to receive.
