Presentation transcript:

To label the male and female reproductive organs Learning intention To label the male and female reproductive organs To know the function of the organs

Reproduction All living orgasms need to reproduce- what would happen to the species if they didn’t reproduce? Different types of organisms reproduce in different ways The reproductive system is made up of different cells and organs in males and females

Sex cells Humans reproduce sexually- both parents contribute HALF of the offspring’s genetic make up The genetic information is carried on the SEX CELLS or GAMETES E

Sex cells What is the male sex cell? What do you know about these cells?

The male sex cell (copy) The male sex cell is the sperm cell. The nucleus containing the genetic information is in the head. Sperm cells also have a tail to swim. Nucleus Tail

The male reproductive system Scrotum A bag of skin which contains the TESTES

The male reproductive system Penis to pass urine out of the man's body to pass semen out of the man's body

The male reproductive system Testes to produce sperm to make male sex hormones

The male reproductive system Sperm tube Carries sperm from testes to penis

The male reproductive system Glands Produces fluid to mix with sperm to form semen

The male reproductive system Urethra Carries sperm out of the body

The female sex cell What is the female sex cell? What do you know about the female sex cell?

The female sex cell (copy) The egg cell is the largest cell in the body. Unlike the sperm, the egg cell cannot swim. The cytoplasm of the cell contains chemicals for the developing baby to grow in.

The female reproductive system Vagina Receives sperm from the male

The female reproductive system Uterus Fertilised egg implants into lining and foetus develops here

The female reproductive system Egg tube Carries egg from the ovary Where fertilisation occurs

The female reproductive system Ovaries Produces and stores egg cells

The female reproductive system Cervix The entrance to the uterus

The female reproductive system Urethra A separate tube that carried urine from bladder

Penis Carries sperm to penis Ovaries Where the baby grows Sperm tube Makes sperm Vagina Carries egg to uterus Uterus Makes eggs Testes Receives sperm Egg tube Holds testes scrotum Carries sperm out of body

Penis Carries sperm to penis Ovaries Where the baby grows Sperm tube Makes sperm Vagina Carries egg to uterus Uterus Makes eggs Testes Receives sperm Egg tube Holds testes scrotum Carries sperm out of body
