8 STEPS FOR LEADING CHANGE- John Kotter Create Urgency Form a powerful coalition Create a vision for change Communicate the vision Remove Obstacles Create Short- Term Wins Build on the change Anchor the changes in Corporate Culture

Step 1 - Create Urgency Inspire People to move Identify potential threats Develop Scenarios showing what can happen in future Start Honest discussions

Step 2 – Form a Powerful coalition Build the guiding team Influence the people whose power comes various sources ( Job Title/Status/Expertise/Political Importance) Get the right people in place to drive the change Get the right people at all levels

Step 3– Create the Vision for Change Get the vision right, Simple vision, Clear vision Focus on emotional & creative aspects

Step 4– Communicate the Vision Communicate to buy in Involve as many as people Communicate in a simple manner Appeal to people’s need

Step 5– Remove Obstacles Enable constructive feedback Support from the leaders Recognize the progress Continuous Support Reward on each stage Identify the people – resisting the change & help to see what’s needed. ( If still not change – THEN CHANGE THEM)

Step 6– Create Short Term Wins Set aims that are easy to achieve Create short term targets Give a taste a victory early in the change process Celebrate the small changes Finish current stage before starting new ones

Step 7– Build on the change Encourage the persistence & determination Foster the ongoing process Create the system of progress reporting Highlight the achieved & future milestones
