Lunch-packed lunches will be provided daily-choice of tuna, ham, cheese, plain sandwich, fruit, crisps and a drink of water

Educational Visits Boulangerie Le Fournil, Wierre Effroy You are standing in a traditional French village bakery, watching a master boulanger’s daily task - fashioning croissant dough by hand. You will take part in making your own bread, croissants and pains au chocolat. You will see the traditional wood-burning ovens and the machinery used in bread making. At the end of your visit, you'll take away a croissant and a pain au chocolat.

Chocolaterie de Beussent After driving up the beautiful valley of the River Course, we found the chocolaterie hidden away in this unassuming bungalow just outside the village of Beussant. Down the stairs by the side of the garage, tempting smells welcome you to a different world. You walk through a small chocolate shop into a basement chocolate factory, decorated with prize show pieces like a model of St-Omer Cathedral, all in chocolate! The tour and demonstration: (left) a school group watches M.Derick's assistant pour chocolate into a mould; (right) M.Derick shows how they cover various filled centres with chocolate, and finish with a decoration.

Nausicaa NAUSICAÄ, the French National Sea Experience Centre, is much more than a mere aquarium. NAUSICAÄ is a unique place where visitors can discover the marine environment. At once entertaining, educational and scientific, the Centre derives its originality from its main focus on the relationship between Man and the Sea. Since 1991, NAUSICAÄ has been determined to raise public awareness about the importance of managing the oceans and their resources as “Caring for the Blue Planet, you can make a difference”.

Etaples Military Cemetery The Military Cemetery is to the north of the town, on the west side of the road to Boulogne. During the First World War, the area around Etaples was the scene of immense concentrations of Commonwealth reinforcement camps and hospitals. It was remote from attack, except from aircraft, and accessible by railway from both the northern or the southern battlefields. In 1917, 100,000 troops were camped among the sand dunes and the hospitals, which included eleven general, one stationary, four Red Cross hospitals and a convalescent depot, could deal with 22,000 wounded or sick. The cemetery contains 10,769 Commonwealth burials of the First World War and 119 of the Second World War.

Behaviour and Benefits We expect all children to be on their best behaviour at all times during the visit to France. Children will be asked to sign a behaviour contract. We are sure that this trip will be of huge benefit to the children and it will really help them appreciate many aspects of French life and culture We appreciate that children may not be able to communicate everything they would like to in French, all we ask is that they have a go and do their best!
