At JVS, we believe that work transforms lives. Job seekers who focus on increasing their work and job search skills are most likely to become employed. We offer a diversity of employment and training programs free of charge to job seekers.

Work Transforms Lives Computer Skills Training Computer Skills Courses are typically 3 hours long and last 3-6 days. Courses include: Word Basics and Intermediate Excel Basics and Intermediate Outlook PowerPoint Fundamentals of Computing Advanced Workshops are 3 hours long and offered monthly. Work Transforms Lives Career Coaching If you are working on clarifying your career goals or planning to change careers, then JVS Career Coaching can help you. In Career Coaching, you will explore your strengths and weaknesses and develop direction for your job search. This usually takes around 3 to 5 sessions. Career Coaching is the only JVS program that is fee for service. Each session is a $100 fee – 30% to 40% lower than what most agencies charge.

Work Transforms Lives For those who want supported job search and have a specific, realistic employment goal within JVS sectors, you may be assigned to a JVS Employment Specialist. Your employment specialist will help you: Focus on your specific job goal. Perfect your resume and cover letters. Identify challenges that are hindering your job search. Work on job search skills. Find resources to track down and pursue promising job leads. Supported Job Search

Work Transforms Lives The focus of working with an employment specialist will be to build your job search skills and strategies. To maximize your work with an employment specialist, you must first attend: Resume Essentials I Cover Letter Essentials I Impactful Interviewing I Job Search Planning Job Search Fundamentals

Work Transforms Lives When working with an employment specialist, you will: Spend about 20 hours per week on job search activities such as doing research or attending workshops and employer spotlights. Attend JVS workshops and labs at least once a month. Contact your employment specialist at least once a month. Complete job search tasks that you and your employment specialist have agreed to. Some of our current training programs include: Healthcare Bridge, preparing college-age youth for careers in healthcare. Work Transforms Lives The Kohn Summer Intern Program is a project of Jewish Vocational Service funded by the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties. College undergraduates with primary residence in the Bay Area, can apply for this eight-week paid summer internship. Jewish college students build their skills, gain valuable workplace experience, exposure to issues currently facing the Jewish community, and opportunities for supervision and mentoring from Jewish community leaders. Work Transforms Lives JVS Results Last year, as the state unemployment rate was %: 1,048 JVS clients found jobs. The average wage for adults was $23 per hour. Over 1,000 employers hired JVS clients. 2,300 people attended over 1,000 public JVS workshops. 1,650 people participated in Supported Job Search. Our client satisfaction rate was 96%.
