What is Electricity? Current electricity is the flow of negatively charged particles called electrons. Static electricity is a positive charged object attracting a negative charged object.

Electrons Electrons are negatively charged particles in a atom. Atoms are particles of matter.

Electrical Circuits Parts of an circuit are a load, conductors, energy source, and electrons. The electrons travel from the energy source Travel through the conductors  powers the load  starts all over again.

Direct Current (D.C) Flows in one direction through the electrical circuit.

Alternating Current (A.C) Changes direction through the electrical circuit.

What are the disadvantages with fossil fuels? 1: Cause pollution to the environment and it is harming animals and humans while it is burning. 2: They are not renewable. If we keep relying on fossil fuels they will run out.

Power plants ( how it`s made) Electricity is made in power plants. Electricity is made from burning fossil fuels. Some examples of fossil fuels are coal, oil and natural gas.

Biomass in electricity Instead of fossil fuels, biomass fuels are important to! Some biomass fuels are energy crops, human and animal manure, wood waste, fruit Burn the fuel produces steam  Steam turns a turbine  turbine powers a generator sends a electrical current  powers our homes.

Geothermal into electrical People drill holes inside the earths core  steam rises out from the earths core  steam turns the turbine turbine powers the generator  makes an electrical current

Hydro into electricity Water flows into a dam  there`s a pumper inside the dam that turns the water into steam underground  steam turns the turbine to power the generator  that makes a electrical current

Solar Power into Electricity When the solar cells capture light and heat, an electric current is made. Two types of solar power plants: 1:Uses the solar cells to turn sunlight into electricity. 2:Uses mirrors to shine light on to a tower which pumps liquid into steam which turns the turbine that powers the generator that makes an electrical current.

Wind into electricity The wind spins the turbine  turbine powers the gearbox  sending power to the generator  sending a electrical current to our homes.
