Acquire –verb to gain ownership of something Acquisition –noun something that is acquired Most tourist often acquire souvenirs from places they visit. They left their vacation with suitcases full of acquisitions.

antagonize –verb to make an enemy of; to stir up in anger You will antagonize your classmates if you make derogatory comments about them. Synonym: annoy, irritate

competent –adj having the ability to do what is needed competence –noun the ability to do what is needed The driving instructor tested to see if Dan was competent to drive his mother’s car. The examination tests the student’s competence to drive safely.
