Meeting and Greeting: The handshake You are judged by the quality of your handshake, so get it right. ‘The dead fish handshake’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exUlCjqQsDA&feature=player_detailpage

The Basics of the International Handshake keep the fingers together with the thumb up and open slide your hand into the other person's so that each person's web of skin between thumb and forefingers touches the other's squeeze firmly. Let’s try. A good handshake should: i. be firm, but not bone-crushing ii. Last for about 3 seconds iii. have an Up-Down-Up-Down movement from the elbow iv. be released after the handshake v. must include good eye contact You shouldn’t touch your arm (like in Korea). But, it wouldn’t be offensive if you did by mistake.

Meet and Greet Task: Shake hands, make eye contact, and introduce yourself. i. Introduce yourself to the people on your table. A: “Can I introduce myself? I’m Mr. Kim.” Or, “Hi, I’m Mr. Kim.” B: “Nice to meet you (Mr. Kim). I’m Ms. Lee.” A: “Nice/pleased to meet you too.” offer your hand accept hand and shake ii. Introduce yourself to other people in the class.
