NAPSA 2016 What You Need to Know

Strategic Plan Continues to Move Forward Our mission is to ensure pretrial justice and public safety through informed decision making and professional standards of practice. Our core purpose is to advance effective pretrial services policies and practices: Education Accreditation Certification Field Assistance Standards

Certification National certification is important for the professionalization of the field. Individual programs will determine its value for staff. Now incorporated in hiring practices.

Certification Both diversion and release. The first release exam was offered in 2005! The first diversion exam was offered in 2014.

Certification Goals To have the exam automated. On demand. Accomplished Fall, 2015. On demand. Accomplished March, 2016. Track practitioner recertification dates. In progress Learning Management System

Updating Professional Standards The standards are being updated. Working with NIC Last updated in 2004 (release standards), and 2008 (diversion standards) The field has evolved No longer supporting any form of monetary release. Essential elements
