We will have eight units of study ( Stone Ages, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Early Hebrews, Ancient India, Ancient China, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome) which we will use to answer the following questions: why do civilizations rise and fall, how does geography impact people, and how do ancient cultures develop and influence future generations. We will us this text as our main resource, so leave your textbook at your house unless otherwise notified. The teacher reserves the right to deal with specific late work and make-up work issues on an individual basis. The general rules that will apply are as follows: If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to retrieve the work missed. Classwork can be found in the Absent folders in class. You can also access classwork, notes, and homework on the classroom website. You have 3 days to make up absent work or it will be considered late Late assignments will be deducted 50% plus points missed. Late work will be accepted until the end of each quarter. Assignments with no name will be deducted 50% plus points missed. Students are recommended to use a two pocket, three prong folder to organize their work. Students may write in pencil or blue or black ink. We will also use red pens for editing and highlighter for annotation. We will watch multiple historically based videos & clips. The majority of the videos are made by major broadcasting networks, such as the History Channel and are designed for educational purposes. Some of the videos may contain re-enactments of wars or war like images. If you do not feel comfortable having your child view these types of images please contact me. Students will need access to the internet at home or on campus frequently. A charged phone or tablet/iPad is suggested but not required. Parents and students are encouraged to email me (email above) regarding any questions throughout the year. Remind 101 updates- Make sure you are signed up to get text alerts.
