Ross University School of Medicine

Mission Statement The mission of Ross University School of Medicine is to prepare highly dedicated students to become effective, successful physicians. We do this by focusing on imparting the knowledge, skills, and values required for our students to establish a successful and satisfying career as a physician.

History of Ross University 1978: Ross University School of Medicine is founded in Dominica by entrepreneur Robert Ross, upon realizing that U.S. medical schools lacked the capacity to accommodate every qualified and deserving applicant. In April 1979, classes begin in leased facilities. 1981: RUSM classes and laboratory exercises are held in a newly constructed academic building on RUSM’s main campus. 2003: RUSM is acquired by DeVry Education Group, one of the largest providers of education services in the world. 2013: The 10,000th graduate of RUSM receives their medical degree from the school. 2014: RUSM makes institutional history. More than 800 RUSM graduates earned residencies in 2014, topping every other medical school in the world.
