5.5 Completing the Square

Using the Square Root Property Factor the left side of the equation as perfect squares Take the square root of each side Set one factor equal to the positive square root and the other factor equal to the negative square root Solve for the variable

Examples- Solve using the square root property x2 + 20x + 100 = 64 36x2 – 48x + 16 = 12
