Workshop Purpose Increase awareness and understanding of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Innovation component Identify potential innovative solutions to addressing children’s mental health needs

Agenda Welcome & Introductions Overview of the MHSA Innovation Component Examples of Innovation Projects Small group activity to brainstorm innovative solutions in four areas of children’s mental health services: Education Criminal justice Crisis services System improvement Report back: What have we learned? Population of San Diego county is about 3.2 million. SANDAG 2009 estimate for North Inland region was 580,000. About 19 pct of the region’s population identifies as ethnically Asian, including 11 pct as Filipino, and about 11 pct identify as speaking Spanish only. The county covers 4,500 square miles. Larger than the combined areas of Rhode Island and Delaware.

Innovation Examples STARS Behavioral Health Group STAY—Crisis Residential for Young Adults (San Bernardino) PRAAC—Promoting Resiliency in African American Children (San Bernardino) Collaboration between agencies will be measured using the IACAS The Interagency Collaboration Activities Scale (IACAS) is a self-report questionnaire used to measure interagency collaborative activities in the following four areas; (a) Financial and Physical Resources, (b) Program Development and Evaluation, (c) Client Services, and (d) Collaborative Policies
