Microtransit Pilot In Sacramento On February 12, 2018, Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) launched SmaRT Ride on-demand microtransit service in Citrus Heights, a suburban City in Sacramento County, Ca. SacRT replaced traditional public dial a ride service called "City Ride" within the boundaries of city of Citrus Heights and to a few medical centers located right outside the city limits. The service is provided using 30 foot cutaway style vehicles and the service operates from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. City Ride is open to the general public and regular SacRT basic and discount fares apply. A six-month pilot project was launched using Transloc's microtransit scheduling software. The project is phased in two phases. Phase one will enhance the City Ride service with on-demand scheduling accessible via mobile app, website, and/or call in reservations. The second phase of the pilot project will determine the feasibility of whether or not to expand microtransit on-demand service model to neighboring Orangevale and to SacRT's Folsom Light Rail Station located in the City of Folsom. This area contains some fixed route services. The pilot will help SacRT determine if transitioning to an on-demand service model using Translōc’s Microtransit technology can improve transit services in the expanded pilot project area. Alva Carrasco Deputy Chief Operating Officer Sacramento Regional Transit April 4, 2018

Microtransit Pilot Project Legal Holiday March 26, 2018 - avg. 46 per day in last 6 weeks

Microtransit Pilot Project Dispatchers: - The ability to edit a ride information with out having to cancel and rebook the ride. We experience passengers who call and book their ride and call back to switch an address. Currently, the only way to do this is to cancel ride and re-enter information. We also had passengers who booked their ride to the wrong address and we find out as the driver is already on route. It will be helpful to have the ability to edit the trip so that the driver gets re-routed to the correct address. -The ability to reverse a ride booking. Meaning after we add the name, phone number, pick up address, drop off address, can we just click and have the information flip and all we have to do is put in time they request. (Major one for dispatchers)

Microtransit Pilot Project Drivers: -The ability to see if the passenger they are picking up is on a wheelchair. The reason why is important is, because when the driver knows they have a wheelchair and they are approaching the pick up location they start looking for ADA accessible areas to position the bus to load or unload the passenger

Orangevale/Folsom Light Rail Station SmaRT Ride Phase II Update map Orangevale/Folsom Light Rail Station Coming April 23, 2018

Microtransit Pilot Project Early Findings: Marketing & community outreach Easy to use app, easy to transition Adoption by new customers No trip denials and less trip cancelations and no shows Easy for Dispatchers and Operators to operate Access to great data and statistics Positive feedback Economics/feasibility …Is it right for your community?

Microtransit Pilot Project Survey SmaRT Ride customers Continue to analyze data and value Watch impacts on wait times and ride duration times Watch for diversion of paratransit trips Conclude pilot project and determine implementing permanently in Citrus Heights/Orangevale/Folsom Procure a permanent microtransit software solution Launch additional pilots in Downtown Sacramento and in other neighborhoods
