Alternative Visuals

Sharing is Caring Find your partner How did you determine what part of the book to work with? What choices did you make (colors, sizes, arrangement)? Is it a motif that is being worked with or something else? What do you like best about it? Why? How could you make this yourself?

Key Passage #3 Do something which departs from the visuals that you have made so far. Options: Collage, Poem, Song, Map

Map Option… The Kite Runner covers a large span of the planet. Some people have used maps for their visuals already, but you can mess with maps and make them say something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dldHalRY-hY

Chapters 15-22 How can we come to redemption? 12 step Program There must be a sacrifice made. If we think of a big religious example for a reference point for redemption it revolves around the need to sacrifice. 12 step Program (AA, ALANON etc) Often times this program is rather religious so if we put it into secular terms then we are left with this translation.

Secular 12 Steps to Redemption… Accept the fact that your efforts to overcome have failed Must turn to someone else for help. Turn to people who have similar problems. Make a list of how this issue arises (guilt, regret, disappointment) 5. Ask friends to help us avoid these situations. 6. Accept help 7. Hope that they will help. 8. Make a list of the people you have wronged. 9. Do all you can to make amends. 10. Repeat the process if necessary. 11. Appreciation of friends. 12. Ready to help others.

Chapters 15-21 When you read these chapters has Amir finally gone through the full circle of redemption in some way shape or form. Use the sticky notes: Write down which steps he has completed and how. Make sure you put the sticky notes in your note book. You will be sharing your ideas with the class and posting the notes on the board.
