UP TO DATE Caspofungin: Caspofungin, an echinocandin, has been approved by the US FDA for the treatment of invasive aspergillosis in patients who cannot tolerate or who are refractory to standard therapy . It is not utilized for primary therapy of invasive aspergillosis because of a lack of data in this setting; it is used for salvage therapy, often in combination with another antifungal drug 5/23/2013 hammoud
UP TO DATE Liposomal amphotericin B and caspofungin : Prior to the availability of voriconazole, there was substantial interest in combination regimens of liposomal amphotericin B (AmBisome) and caspofungin for invasive aspergillosis. This combination has shown some benefit compared with liposomal amphotericin monotherapy, but has not been compared with voriconazole monotherapy 5/23/2013 hammoud
