KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA BSF RAJOURI (J&K) NATIONAL READING DAY – READING MONTH CELEBRATION 19 JUNE 2018 TO 18 JULY 2018

P.N. PANICKER P.N. Panicker is known as the Father of the  Library Movement  in the Indian state of Kerala. The activities of the Kerala Grandhasala Sanghom that he initiated triggered a popular cultural movement in Kerala which produced universal literacy  in the state in the 1990s. The State Government of Kerala has announced  19th June (day of his death) as the  PN Panicker Reading Day (Vaayanadinam)  and June as the Reading Month.

ACTIVITY - 01 READING DAY PLEADGE Kendriya Vidyalaya BSF, Rajouri celebrated Reading Day and Reading Month on June 23, 2018. Mr. A. S. Meena, Principal inaugurated the month long celebration today in the morning assembly by lighting the lamp. The staff and students paid homage to Shri P. N. Panicker, Father of Library Movement in Kerala. Mr. Mukesh Kumar Singh, Librarian administered the reading pledge. Pledge is read by Mrs. Swati Kapoor, PGT English. Various competitions and activities are being organised during the Reading Month. Mr. Mahesh Kumar, TGT SST. announced the competitions that will organised by the Vidyalaya for the students . The students presented a short programme on the life and contributions of Shri. P N Panicker which was followed by the Reading Song. Mr. Ajit Singh Meena, Principal stressed the importance of reading judiciously selected books and to contribute to the nation building. Mrs. Aparna Kumari addressed the assembly and stressed on complete utilization of library resources.

ACTIVITY – 2 BOOK REVIEW Books Review competition held on 25 June 2018 at Library. This competition was for the classes IX to XII. Many Students participated in the activity . This competition was organized by Mr. Mukesh Kumar Singh, Librarian. Students actively participated in this activity. Every student chose a book of his\her own interest and gave a book review.

ACTIVITY – 3 STORY READING Story reading competition was held on 27 June, 2018 . This competition was organized by Mr. Chanderkant Bakolia TGT English, Mrs.Swati PGT English . This competition was conducted in the guidelines of Mrs.Aparna PGT Hindi. This event was organized in Library with the help of Mr.Mukesh Kumar Singh librarian. Student participated in this competition with positive attitude and full energy.

ACTIVITY – 4 POEM WRITING COMPETITION Poem writing competition was held on 29 June, 2018 on the occassion of national reading day and reading month celebration. The competition was conducted by Ms. Shubham Mahajan TGT – Maths, in the guidelines of Mr. Mukesh Kumar Singh, Librarian. Most of the students participated in the competition with full energy enthusiasm.

ACTIVITY – 5 INSPIRATION STORIES SHOW Story telling activity conducted in Class I & Class II on 02 July 2018. The story of peacock and nightingale peacock who want to have many qualities. Children listen interestingly and they came to know each one of us has different qualities so don’t be disappointed. The activity was conducted by Ms. Helena PRT, and Ms. Deepika Papnai PRT in the guidelines of Mr. Mukesh Kumar Singh, Librarian.

ACTIVITY – 6 LOUD READING SESSION Loud Reading competition was held on 03 July 2018on the occasion of National Reading Day And Reading Month celebration. This event was conducted by Ms. Priya PRT, Ms, Meena PRT and Mr. Bawa Ditta PRT Music. This session was conducted for Primary Classes. Most of the students actively participated in this activity.

ACTIVITY – 7 SPELLING CORRECTION Spelling Correction competition was held on 06 july 2018 on the occaassion of national reading day and reading month celebration. The competition was conducted by Ms. Shubham Mahajan TGT – Math, and Ms. Deepika Papnai PRT in the guidelines of Mr. Akhilesh Kumar Singh, PRT. Most of the students participated in the competition with full energy enthusiasm. This session was conducted for Classes VI - VIII.

ACTIVITY – 8 PROBLEMS IN READING दिनांक 10/7/2018 ‘ National reading month’के अंतर्गत “पठन की समस्यायें” विषय पर चौथी से छठी कक्षा के छत्रों के लिये एक कार्य्शाला का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें सभी छत्रों ने उत्साह्पूर्वक भाग लिया। छात्रों से एक कहानी को पढवाकर व्यवहारिक रूप से समस्या का ज्ञान छात्रों को करवाया गया तथा श्री मुकेश कुमार सिंह के नेत्रित्व में बारी बारी से अंग्रेजी एवम हिंदी दोनों ही भाषाओं में आने वाली कठिनाइयां एवम समाधान श्री सुरेंद्र कुमार और अपर्णा कुमारी द्वारा बताया गया। इस गतिविधि से छात्र अतिसय लाभांवित और प्रेरित हुए।

This competition was conducted by Mr.Mahesh kumar TGT social science and Mr.Chanderkant Bakolia TGT English in the guidance of Mrs.Aparna PGT Hindi . Most of the students participated in this competition with full efforts and energy.

ACTIVITY -10 HINDI SKIT ON READING PROBLEMS Hindi skit on reading problems was held on 18 july 2018 on the occasion of national reading day and reading month celebration . This skit was prepared by Mr.Bawa Ditta sir PRT Music and Mr. Mahesh kumar TGT Social Science in the guidelines of Mr.jogindert Singh PGT Mathematics . This play was based on reading problems . Through this skit a successful message was delivered by the students .

VELEDICTORY FUNCTION At the end of National Reading day and Reading Month celebration we celebrate valedictory function on 18 July 2018. On this occasion student represented Hindi Skit on Reading Problems. Students were awarded by our Principal. Our Principal addressed the students regarding this month and explained the value of books & library. Vote of thanks given by Mr. Mukesh Kumar Singh, Librarian.
