Boundary Analysis for “ANATOLIA 2” ELEMENTARY sCHOOL Robert Pierce Facilities and Planning Donna Cherry Elementary Education May 23, 2016 Historically, elementary school boundaries for new elementary schools have been adopted by the Board about 1 year before the opening date. The timing of these new schools relative to the need is a bit late due to lack of State Funding But with Dev Fees and Borrowing it is now possible.

Two New Schools Opening August 2017 “Anatolia 2” Elementary School “Laguna Ridge North” Elementary School With that come the obvious need for attendance areas for those schools.

“Anatolia 2 Elementary” Will be the District’s 41st/42nd Elementary School Construction began in May 2016 and planned to be complete for the 2017-18 school year. Located at the corner of Appolon Drive and Sophistry Drive, adjacent to Sandpiper Park. 10 acre school site Phase one includes 3 PreK/Kindergarten classrooms and 27 standard classrooms Capacity on Traditional school calendar = 828 and on a MTYRE calendar = 1,088

Boundary Criteria In deciding where to place school boundaries the Board of Education seeks:   To establish student enrollments appropriate to each school's capacity, program, and calendar. To strive for a balanced enrollment within our schools over time. To allow for future boundary changes as student housing needs change, considering growth within an attendance area and the disruption which may result from the changes. To consider the rate of development activity and student population shifts occurring within existing and proposed attendance area boundaries. To consider walking distances, safety issues, and school or public transportation routes for new and existing schools. Establish student enrollments appropriate to each school's capacity, program, and calendar Plan for balanced enrollment within our schools over time – which depending on development patens may require changes over time Plan for future boundary changes as student housing needs change, considering growth within an attendance area and the disruption Consider the rate of development activity and student population shifts occurring within existing and proposed attendance area boundaries Consider walking distances, safety issues, and school or public transportation routes for new and existing schools – Franklin

Establishing a Boundary for “Anatolia 2 Elementary” Located within the current boundary of Sunrise Elementary School. It is projected that approximately 1,428 PreK-6 students will be residing within the Sunrise Elementary attendance area during the 2017-18 school year. Extensive continued residential development expected in the region. Sunrise MTYRE capacity of 1,428

Sunrise Region Massive build out 8 future ES’s including Anatolia II – 9 in total 2 MS/HS’s Given the remote location of the area without nearby ES’s its critical to have a school in place.

Questions? Feedback? Severe excess capacity at secondary level 2,720 at MS 4,575 at HS Residing 240 MS 343 HS Resources are going to be critical State and Local Bond No infrastructure in place to even build the school should we even have the resources Building ES’s is a good indicator of an eventual MS/HS need.
