The SHRM Foundation Adopts a New Strategy I’m here today on behalf of the SHRM Foundation to unveil their new strategy. This strategy is one that aims to support those with no support and empower chapters and state councils to transform the workforce and transform lives.

The SHRM Foundation Listened to members and donors Implemented your ideas After 50 years of funding academic research and scholarships, the SHRM Foundation heard from members that it was time for a change, that members wanted the SHRM Foundation to be more relevant, to support causes that members care about and to allow members to make a local impact in their communities. The SHRM Foundation heard that members wanted to help people succeed. With all of these things in mind the SHRM Foundation prepared to transform their strategy and brand. Now let me show you the new purpose, vision and mission of the SHRM Foundation.

Purpose The SHRM Foundation is a values-based charity organization that champions workforce and workplace transformation and inspires HR professionals to make it happen. The SHRM Foundation is a values-based charity that champions workforce and workplace transformation and inspires HR professionals to make it happen.

Vision Empowered HR professionals building inclusive organizations where all employees thrive and organizations achieve success. The new SHRM Foundation vision is a world of empowered HR professionals building inclusive organizations where all employees thrive and organizations achieve success.

Mission The SHRM Foundation champions workforce and workplace transformation by providing… research-based HR solutions for challenging inclusion issues facing employees and potential employees. scholarships to educate and develop HR professionals and students to make change happen. opportunities for HR professionals to make a difference in their local communities. The SHRM Foundation will meet our new mission of creating workforce and workplace transformation by providing research-based HR solutions for challenging inclusion issues facing employees and potential employees, by providing scholarships to educate and develop HR professionals and students to make change happen, and by providing opportunities for HR professionals to make a difference in their local communities. The inclusion issues that we will take on include…

Solving aging workforce issues

Integrating veterans into the workforce …integrating veterans into the workforce and retaining them…

Closing the gender pay gap

Identifying new ways to help single-parents cope and flourish in the workforce …identifying new ways to help single-parents cop and flourish in the workforce…

Identifying new ways to integrate and engage individuals with disabilities in the workforce …identifying new ways to integrate and engage individuals with disabilities into the workforce…

employment discrimination Ending employment discrimination …ending employment discrimination…

Assisting employee victims of domestic or work abuse, harassment or bullying …assisting victims of domestic or work abuse, harassment or bullying…

Those are some of the inclusion issues that members told the SHRM Foundation were important to them. That was the first step in the journey you now see mapped on the screen. Next, the SHRM Foundation will work hard to inspire you to take on these challenging issues. They will also partner with other organizations, including corporations, non-profits, and foundations to identify evidence-based solutions that are working to solve these issues and what additional tools and solutions are still needed.

The SHRM Foundation will work with the partners to help fund and develop HR solutions you can then use to make your organization more inclusive and more effective. The SHRM Foundation will also work with SHRM chapters and state councils to empower local impact through community volunteer efforts to impact these groups mentioned. And finally, the SHRM Foundation will continue to offer scholarships…because without skilled and empowered HR professionals, transforming the workplace and workforce is not possible. In fact, next year, the SHRM Foundation will be offering more than 325 scholarships, increasing these awards by over 35 percent in a single year!

Ultimately, this new Foundation strategy is designed to provide support to many in the workforce who lack the support they need and it will empower HR professionals to build inclusive organizations where all employees thrive and organizations achieve success.

Inclusion Issues Timeline 2017 Preparing for an Aging Workforce 2017 – 2018 Integrating Veterans into the Workforce 2018 – 2019 Workplace Equality Issues 2019 – 2020 Identifying New Ways to Integrate and Engage Individuals with Disabilities Into the Workforce 2020 – 2021 Ending Employment Discrimination 2021 – 2022 Assisting Victims of Harassment, Bullying or Abuse Here is the timeline for when the SHRM Foundation will be working on each of these issues. As you can see, they will be investing heavily in each issue for a couple of years, but the work won’t stop on any of these issues. The SHRM Foundation will continue to pursue these issues to fulfill our vision of a truly inclusive workplace.

The Aging Workforce Making a Local Impact The SHRM Foundation has been working on building resources for solving aging workforce issues for the past three years and hope that you will take on this issue by making a difference in your local communities in 2017. The SHRM Foundation has already sent you a brochure like the one pictured here to get you started.

Now—a little more about our new strategy… The SHRM Foundation is very excited for this new strategy and to build inclusive organizations with you in the future. To finish this presentation I’m going to leave you with a short video to inspire and empower you for the transformation journey ahead.
