WELCOME TO SCIENCE OLYMPIAD!!!

Snack Mix Machine Challenge There are 2 rules: 1) Your machine must be able to mix at least two different kinds of snacks. 2) It must use two different types of simple machines to get the job done. You have 5 minutes to form a team of 4 and design your machine using the sheet of paper at your table. You will then have 5 minutes to build. Use the supplies at your station. Next step is to TEST! We will test each machine to see who completed this challenge!

WHAT IS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXKeDsYFCrM It is an organization designed for students to be creative, innovative, and confident in science. We work as TEAMS and we work together. You compete in an area of science that EXCITES you!

CATEGORIES TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING Battery Buggy Roller Coaster EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCE Dynamic Planet Meteorology Road Scholar Rocks and Minerals Solar System PHYSICAL SCIENCE & CHEMISTRY Crime Busters Hovercraft Optics Potions and Poisons Thermodynamics TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING Battery Buggy Roller Coaster Towers Wright Stuff INQUIRY & NATURE OF SCIENCE Experimental Design Fast Facts Mystery Architecture Write It Do It LIFE, PERSONAL & SOCIAL SCIENCE Anatomy and Physiology Disease Detectives Ecology Herpetology Microbe Mission

TEAMS… Division B (Grades 6-9) Membership Rules: A team may have up to fifteen (15) members. We will need 2 captains. What this means is we will need at least 2 team members who are in charge of running the meetings, helping plan fundraisers, and who can help recruit other people and adult volunteers.

WE NEED TO REGISTER A TEAM  If you are serious about joining this team, then I need information from you! I will have “rules” packets available for you next meeting. If interested I need you to write down: Name Grade level AND Homeroom teacher

WE NEED TO RAISE MONEY  I’m not sure how much it will cost yet. We still need to register a team and I believe it will cost about $60/ person. BUT we will need help purchasing “kits” which will help us build and research ideas.
