Who is Wilder Research and how do we support PBIS Schools? Spring Training 2018 Hi everyone! My name is Amanda Petersen and I’m with Wilder Research. During this short presentation, I’ll explain who we are and what we do to support PBIS schools. I’ll also talk a little bit about the TFI school visit and walk-through, provide some resources of how to complete the TFI, and last but not least, how to get in touch with Wilder staff if you need to.

What is Wilder Research? Part of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation Based in St. Paul Evaluation partner for Minnesota PBIS since 2011 Help to coordinate assessments, build databases, write reports, develop surveys, and more! A division of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation based in St. Paul We conduct research, evaluation, and consulting for non-profit organizations, for-profit entities, foundations, government, and other organizations. Our work focuses on many topics such as education, public health, mental health, housing and homelessness, and many others. Wilder Research has been the evaluation partner for Minnesota PBIS since 2011. In this role, we provide assistance in assessment coordination, database building, reporting, website management, and survey instrument development.

Meet the team! Amanda Petersen Project Manager and Coordinator Thalia Hall Assessment Coordinator Francie Streich PBIS Database Project Manager Walker Bosch Lead Data Analyst--PBIS So you can put some faces with some names, here is the Wilder PBIS team. I’ll have a slide with our contact information at the end of this video. I’m Amanda Petersen, I oversee the day-to-day operations of evaluation for PBIS. If you are a TFI Facilitator, the person you will likely hear from the most is Thalia Hall, who does the majority of our reminder calls and emails for TFI scheduling and coordination. Two people you may not hear from, but who I go to a lot for questions regarding our new database and data analysis are Francie Streich and Walker Bosch. I wanted to include them here as they are instrumental in making things go for our new database and have helped me to answer any questions I’ve had in the past for all things data. Credit where credit is due. 

How does Wilder support PBIS schools? Reminder emails and phone calls to: Complete TFI assessments Submit ODR data (Non-SWIS schools) Update contact information for your school team Troubleshoot issues with completing assessments Answer general questions about anything evaluation So, how does Wilder support PBIS schools? It is our job to support schools in training with their evaluation needs—we are here to help! -This involves getting in touch with schools, and sending school teams reminders via phone and email to complete implementation fidelity assessments and to submit ODR data for non-SWIS schools. -We are also here to answer any questions you have on how to complete fidelity assessments -We also keep a data base of school’s contact information -Be sure to watch for emails twice a year from us seeking any updates for your PBIS school team contact information. -Please feel free to alert your RIP if you have any changes to key PBIS contacts at your school—they can update our database if needed. -We’re also here to help troubleshoot if you’re having issues with completing any assessments such as finding a match for your school to complete the TFI, how to complete a walk-through, etc. -We’re also here to support you in your PBIS journey beyond training—we reach out to and connect with schools out of training as well. So you’ll likely hear from us every spring to remind you to complete assessments and enter ODR data.

TFI Spring 2018 school visit and walk-through Each school will visit their partner school and conduct a walk-through and TFI this spring (March-June 2018) Match information will be given out at training Wilder staff will connect with TFI facilitators via email/phone to remind them to schedule their visits and answer any questions As you’ve heard by now, this spring, each school in Cohort 12 and 13 will visit their partner school and conduct a walk-through of the school building and facilitate the TFI tool afterwards. You’ll get your match information at this training and Wilder will connect with you after training to remind you to schedule this visit and also check in with you to see if you’ve completed it. We’ll also ask if your school’s TFI facilitator needs any assistance and see what we can do to help. Reminder: If you are unable to complete the TFI visit you’ve been assigned to, please contact us right away to ensure that all school teams have a match and every school can get their TFI completed on time.

The first training video was created by Wilder Research last year. It contains information on how to facilitate the TFI as well as how to conduct and score the TFI walk-through. The second link takes you to a series of training videos that were created by PBIS in Oregon. There are several short videos that provide an overview of how to conduct the TFI and the walk-through.

Connecting with Wilder Research staff Here are the primary staff you’ll be hearing from: Thalia (TFI facilitation reminders March-June) Amanda (ODR data submission for non-SWIS schools April-June) pbisevalmn@wilder.org (you will receive emails from this address) Primarily used by Amanda for larger email blasts You can reply and send messages to this email if needed As I said before, Wilder staff will connect with your school team members (either the TFI facilitator, coach, or administrator) via email or phone to remind you to schedule and complete your TFI school visit and walk-through -Thalia—TFI Coordinator will be in touch for TFI reminders in the months of March to June. -You could also be getting reminders from me, Amanda, to complete your TFI. Also, if your school does NOT currently use SWIS, we will be sending out email reminders to administrators and PBIS coaches to use our ODR data entry system on our website to enter your school’s ODR data. These reminders will happen in the months of April-June and will most likely be from the pbisevalmn@wilder.org email address. This is our dedicated email account set up for PBIS. You can feel free to email this address with any questions you have, or contact Amanda and Thalia directly.
