So What Did We Accomplish This Semester? 1. Formed interdisciplinary StartUp Teams comprised of BIOE students 2. You experienced and developed teamwork skills 3. Generated ideas for a new business venture and evaluated them to identify the best opportunity, used the Lean Launch Methodology and the Business Model Canvas 4. Pitched these opportunities to the rest of the class in the Shark Tank 5. Developing a Business Plan around this opportunity incorporating the concepts of the Business Model Canvas 6. Developed Critical Thinking Skills regarding the screening/evaluation of ideas 7. Learned the nuts and bolts of Entrepreneurship and the operations of a modern business enterprise to include: a. feasibility analysis b. industry & competitor analysis c. developing an effective business model d. ethics and legal foundations of a business e. assessing the financial strength & viability f. getting funding g. marketing issues h. IP issues i. how to build a solid team

1st Place: $10,000 2nd Place: $5,000 3rd Place: $2,000 UT Business Innovation Competition conducted by UT College of Business and Innovation Submission is a requirement of BIOE 4420 1st Place: $10,000 2nd Place: $5,000 3rd Place: $2,000 Honorable Mentions: $500 1. Workshop on the Competition Monday, February 6 12-1pm Savage 3100 2. Entry due date Monday, February 27 3. Finalists announced Friday, March 24 4. Finalists presentations Thursday, April 13 5.
